People
go the church with family, then come back to a family gathering.
At midnight after eating we toast, then the adults dance while
younger people go out to see the fireworks. After this we go
to sleep, but before opening the presents under the Christmas
tree. The dinner food is pork, turkey and a great variety of
meals.
Then
the table is covered with sweet things, cider, juice for
consuming while waiting for the time of the toast. After the
toast all the family chat, sing or play. Houses are decorated
with red and white garlands, on the door Christmas's Boots are
placed. The Chritsmas tree is decorated with coloured lights,
ornaments and the star placed on top of it.
Mothers
make different kinds of meals such as roasted turkey, roasted
pork, stuffed tomatoes, Christmas's bread and puddings. The
toast: drink prepared with different kinds of fruit which is
cut into pieces, then it is mixed with juice and cider. The
foods are all served cold because it is summer time and most
of the people live in the warmer climates. Many people from
Buenos Aires spend Christmas at the beach in Mar del Plata (about
1,000,000) tourists at Christmas.

'Dance
in Argentina'
In
Argentina, tango is, far and away, folk music.
It starts being danced in 1880 in the Corrales Viejos in Parque
Patricios, south of Buenos Aires. Even though Carlos Gardel
represents the soul of Tango, others like Astor Piazzolla, Mariano
Mores, Aníbal Troilo and Juan de Dios Filiberto inmortalized
it even more. What started as a forbidden music due to its big
amount of sensuality and passion, is nowadays the image of Buenos
Aires.

EL
MATE
The
Genuine River Plate costumes arise from it. The
desiccating "mate" leaves represented a group of
virtudes for the ancient aborigines previous to the Spanish
conquests. Its consumption grew bigger when in the XVII
century the Jesuits, who were settled in the province
of Misiones, began the task of growing this plant carefully.
The "mate" is prepared in a pumpkin bowl, which used to
be attractively decorated. It is drunk by means of a straw
with a strainer at the end called "bombilla". The ingredient
are: "yerba mate", sugar at your discretion and hot water.
In meetings with friends, long drinkings of "mate" are
held (one "mate" is poured for each guest alternatly),
which shows the spirit of the creole hospitality.
