"In the month of October 2001. Ex-Elder Scott Gilderoy of the Manchester Mission 1995-1997 alumni was killed along with another you member of the Sunderland Ward, Sunderland England Stake. He was killed in a bike accident as he was traveling form Scotland. He was currently serving as the High priest group leader in the ward after sometime on the Bishopric. He was married at they time, but had no children. The Parents of Scotts Wife, Lisa Gilderoy, have asked if you could put this information on the website to try and prevent upsetting cards from arriving at this christmas period, as well as to inform his old companions and other members he had served with in the Manchester Mission."

September 7th, 2000 We recenly added the 60s to the alumni list based on this E-mail:
"Why do you make it necessary for us to go to the Leeds Mission to register as former missionaries. I served in the North British Mission from 1962-1964. I was never in the Leeds Mission. Our mission home was located in Hale, Cheshire. I think you should make room for us that served in what is now called the Manchester England Mission."

July 8th, 2000 News from One of Our Returned Missionaries:
"My mission was the best mission in the world. I was moved around the mission serving in 9 areas. I baptised many people and even a few families.
Just the other week I went to a wedding in the Bountiful Temple of one of my converts. I felt the joy that the Lord was meaning in the 82 Section of the D&C "...and how great would be your joy if you bring save one soul unto me". Babtisms went down a bit when the new mission president came in, but now the baptisms are on the rise with more of the 'quality' type converts.
The new mission Pres. Phil Whitman is awesome. He teaches the missionarys the spiritul way to convert. I have learned a lot from him. I respect him. He was the head of relegion at Ricks when he was called.
Pres Stucki was awesome too. The kind of man a young missionary could look up to. I knew that he would make a good G.A. but not so quick!!
My favorite areas were Liverpool and Gearwen. One of my old areas, Skemlmersdale was closed down. Chorley ward was split into two. Liverpool was two wards and now they are one again.
The addition of the Preston Temple to the mission was great. Almost everyone said that they had seen our new "catherdal" on the motorway near Chorley. We even found some who went to the open house. So the temple is a great asset to the EMM.
The mission is running a media campaign for the Lamb of God and the Nativity videos. The campaigns are very effective and help bring many families into the church."
Sister Seth Helms (EMM - 1998 - 2000)

June 4th, 2000 New Preston Stake Presidency
Thought you might be interested to know that the stake president for Preston stake was changed yesterday. President Leece was released and President Malcolm Beverely called to replace him. President Beverely, a Scotsman, lives in Chorley and was previously on the High Council. Many may remember him from the Preston Temple Dedication were he was in charge of the ushering.

May 24th, 2000 The church works to improve its image in England
By Daniel Davis, NewsNet Staff Writer - used with his permission. To contact Daniel: daniel@newsroom.byu.edu
Four BYU professors of the School of Family Life set course to Britain this morning to help the English government and church programs strengthen families and build moral.
James Harper, Windy Watson, Randal Day and Thomas Holman were all invited to offer lectures and firesides to LDS and non-LDS groups.
Surviving the teen years, strengthening marriages, single parenting and finding a marriage partner will be topics of discussion, Holman said.
"We are one of the nation's strongest departments of family life," said Harper, the director of the school of family life. "This gives us an opportunity to use our resources and educate people outside of the United States."
The United Kingdom has the one of the highest rates of co-habitation in the world, he said.
He said children are at a greater risk of child abuse when there are live-in family members and single parents.
This is a way to take the best of BYU's education to other parts of the world, Holman said.
BYU has got to find ways to reach beyond this acreage of land, he said.
The team will split up to cover 12 or more different cities in England, Harper said.
"About two years ago, the English government sent out a general offer to everyone in England regarding building the family unit," he said. "The LDS church jumped at that offer."
Area Authority Spencer J. Condie, president of the Europe North area, invited the BYU School of Family Life to participate, Holman said.
Perception of the church in England now is similar to how it was perceived in America 100 years ago, he said.
There is a lot of persecution and misconceptions towards and about Mormons.
"It is a way for us to help them (Britain) bring the church out of obscurity," he said. "We want to show the people of England that Mormons stand for traditional and moral families."
Family values are a global problem, said Dee Giles, 25, a senior from Nogales, Ariz. majoring in public relations.
"My roots are in England," he said. "I think family values need to be taught around the world."

May 20th, 2000 Martyn Race announces his wedding! He sent the following to me:
We met at a Church dance at the Chorley Chapel at the end of July 2000. (she dragged me to the dance floor as I'm not the best dancer.) Meeting on the Temple site had the great advantage of being able to walk around the Temple in the moonlight, a special experience that I am sure many people have had. The dance was for Single Adults and was very well attended - with music and cabaret provided. (it was actually a blind date) We began dating on 11th August 2000 - very romantic as it was the day of the total eclipse. It was a strange experience that day, having the noises of nature in total silence for a few moments while the world went into darkness. Then hearing the birds singing and feeling the warmth of the sun back on the land and our faces. We are booked into the Preston Temple to be sealed at 7:30pm on 22nd July 00 - the wedding is at 11am at the Sheldon Chapel, Birmingham. Gillians background - she was born into the Church in Carlisle (England), she works as a primary school teacher, teaching 7 - 8 year olds. She served a mission in the England London South Mission. She has been living in Birmingham for approx. 7 years and has worked in Banks, the Disney Store and the Church offices. My background - I am a convert of nearly 9 years, baptised in the Basingstoke Ward by an Elder Menlove in Dec 91. I served a mission 93 - 95. (It was ace).

April 26th, 2000 I received the following:
"I am grateful to still be connected with the EMM Manchester. I just called Pres. O. Louis Alder. He still lives in Corona, California and is struggling with a cancer in his natural body. He doesn´t have e-mail. " [Best wishes, Markus Busche]
April 17th, 2000 The Register Page now has the list bot with an unsubscribe feature for those who do not wish to receive the EMM Alumni updates. Also there is a link to review past messages sent by the Web Designer to the Alumni.

Mormon Doctrine News: Glenn Beck
international QUOTE (Nighthawk @ 14-Mar 10, 12:13 AM)
"Social Justice" is a codeword for attempts to implement socialism and progressivism.

That's the problem I have with Beck's statement and those who think similar you know what am I saying?. A codework? You arent serious, are you? No codeworks here. Social Justice AND socialism are two different things, the problem arises when people like Beck try hard to put them as one. I am sick of conspiracy theories. He needs to stay out of religion and mind politics. His mouth is too big and his thinking process illogical.
