Bob Dole
Bob Dole, former Senate majority leader, presidential candidate and decorated World War II veteran, dies at 98. First elected to Congress in 1961, Dole was a major force in the Republican Party for three decades. He became its national chairman in 1971, and in 1996 was the GOP presidential nominee in an election he lost to Democrat Bill Clinton. Dole died in his sleep, according to an announcement from the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. Source 5z.
