US Sniper Dirty or calculated combat? The role of the sniper as a military weapon is looked on differently depending on who you talk to. Some consider the sniper as an unfair combatant and yet others see the Sniper as one of the most effective tools of changing the direction of war. What are your thoughts?

That is a tremendous shot. It take an insanely steady hand to be a sniper. Less than a millimeter of wiggle at the muzzle equates to inches or even feet of movement at the target, depending on range. There are so many things to consider as well. Again, I have to say tremendous shot… it is just worth repeating again.

The right conditions need to be met as well; wind, temperature, no obscurities, and I'd dare to say some luck.

Sniper History & Civil Business Politics

William,

Actually we can compensate for wind, although not a raging storm. We can also compensate for temperature and humidity. These are all part of sniper training. Now, obscured almost always means no shot.

You can compensate but wind can change and that incorporates skill. How well you compensate and even how cooperative the target is so you have the time to make the shot.

William,

If the wind changes you compensate for it. It's one of the skills we are taught. If the wind changes just as you take the shot or afterwards there is nothing you can do. Skill doesn't matter once you pull the trigger. Everything up to pulling that trigger is skill and training though. The shot this cat made at a mile and a half required a lot of both.
