Comments: I think that people usually want what they don't have.. Its but a natural human instinct isn't it? those with curly hair desire straight, and those with straight want curls, similarly people with dark skin want fairer skin n those with fair skin love tan,, coming back to the main topic referring India- the reason why Indians prefer fair skin is that usually the farm peasants have dark skin as their work on their farms all day long and get tanned easily as this country being tropical, and people certainly don't want to look like one thats why. Also no doubt you look more beautiful with a fair glow skin than a dark one (but with some complexion really doesnt matters, their sharp gorgeous features does it all).

Comments: If skin colour is not an issue then why are all the Bollywood stars so fair? I have never seen a dark skinned (Not tan) actress used in a major role yet.
