Hand to hand combat I have alway though the two handed sword was well effective though ugly. Assuming of course the character has the vast strength and agility to use it properly. Other wise two daggers can work very effectively.

I generally dual wield scimitars because of the crit range or use a staff, depending on the character I'm playing.

Any kind of sword, but I like the long sword the best because you can get max damage while still holding a shield. Short swords are good for corridors.

I like the long sword myself too. It allows you to use a shield or a sword breaker if your going against a monster armed with a sword.

RPG Hand Hand Weapons

Yes a sword breaker is a specialized weapon that is designed to catch the blade of a sword and a quick twist can either disarm the sword wielder or break the blade. It is like a cudgel but has a couple metal reenforced strips designed to catch the blade.
