Ever The Lee Bruce

Keeping in mind the subjective nature of the question I would have to say that he WAS the best for a few reasons. One, he broke out of tired old traditions and created a dynamic new form of martial arts that could be used by anyone, anywhere. Whereas 'traditional' forms left a fight quite static and disciplined. Those trained in the traditional forms could be left off their guard when confronted by an unorthodox attacker. Jeet Kune Do allows people to 'be like water', ever flowing and adapting to a changing environment. Two, he ultimately never backed down from the barriers set before him. The ancient mentality that kept the martial arts world in a state of dormancy created an unmovable foundation, however left the forms stagnant while the rest of the world continued to evolve. This lesson of never allowing stubborn ways of old to cloud out views of what the future could be is one that all people can benefit from. Finally, he never doubted his ability to grow and learn. Even when people criticized him that there was not enough ju-jitsu in him form he took the time to learn more (namely by defeat in the ring) and finally add to his own beliefs that which he previously though of little use. This too is a lesson that all people can use on a daily basis.
All that said (and I realize that I can be long winded), the best he was, only leaves room for the best that can be. To those who are willing to hear his words and put them to use not only in the practice of their martial arts but also in their daily lives all have the potential to become the best.

What a fantastic reply. That pretty much sums everything up.

I don't know Bruce Lee from a martial art diplomatic view.
I know him as that crazy skilled martial artist, I have 4 Bruce Lee documentaries they all look at his life and death from different views and angles. But nothing could ever tarnish the fact that this guy could side kick a training bag with trainer across the room. also doing 2 fingered press ups. Just a few of the incredible proof of his amazing physique. Bruce Lee is and always will be an Icon of Martial arts, Most definitely the best.

Is it true that Bruce Lee's skills were so fast that they had to slow the film down in sequences so you could see his fighting technique?

Bruce Lee was so fast, that they actually had to slow a film down so you could see his moves. That is the opposite of the norm.
