Gender Issues In D&D Role-playing

Just curious, while we have a topic about romance in role-playing what about gender issues in role-playing? Is it something you would entertain in your campaign? What about if you are a player, will you feel comfortable with it as an issue?

Let's take it even further, will you have issues playing with others if you knew they were homosexual, gay, bisexual, transexual, etc?

It wouldn't bother me in the least, [in] fact an issue like this would not be of interest to me unless I was playing a character that was fitting one of those characteristics. Who or what a player does in their personal life is their business and if they want to role-play that way then let them.

I have the same sentiment of those that already put their thoughts and no, I would not feel uncomfortable about playing a game with anyone that was part of the LGBT community. Those who don't that is up to them, its just a game and if you refuse at least be civil about it.

I think a Game Master would clearly state to what level character interactions and NPCs would involve themselves socially. What is done in their off-time/down time is up to them.

Encourage them to write and record such things as an aside from the actual game. Such writings will improve their contributions to the games they play in, even if they aren't permitted to role-play such interactions in game.

I have only ever encountered one player as a GM that was LGBT and their character never made it past the conception stage, but they insisted that their backstory had some serious LGBT experiences with a mentor. I never pursued things further, waiting of course for them to show interest and get the character on the ground for play.
