Why Can't Muslims Eat Ham?

What's the reason that Muslims can't eat ham but they can eat other meats like chicken or beef?

Ham Eat Muslims Cant Why

Ham comes from pigs, which is considered an unclean meat which is felt not good for the body. More, it is one of the forbidden foods a Muslim is never supposed to eat. The religion actually prohibits a small number of foodstuff, mattering in large part how they are caught and prepared incorrectly, as well again some animals simply being seen as unclean/unsafe to eat.

Rather off topic, but...
To add to this, meat from pigs is considered unclean for those of the Jewish faith as well. This all stems from a portion of the Old Testament that stipulates what animals people can and can't consume.

Islam considers themselves, Christians, and Jews people of the book. They believe that God has revealed himself to Jews and Christians in the past and that the writings of Mohammed are His last sermons. So, the not eating pork part flows from the Old Testament.

Rather off topic, but...
What Christians call the old testament of the bible is a direct part of all of the Abrahamic faiths, the main three of which are Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.

That book includes a section on what foods are fit for human consumption, and other than birds, it forbids eating land animals unless they're cloven hoofed and chew cud. We know that category of animals as ruminants these days, and it includes cows, sheep, goats, etc. But not pigs.

From a secular viewpoint, we're fairly certain the ban was created as a practical matter. The excluded animals tend to be dangerous to one's health unless properly handled, and a tribe of primitive nomads aren't exactly equipped for such.

Rather off topic, but...
Christians are widely considered exempt from this, as the New Testament contradicts the ban.

Plus back in the older days the pig was not yet domesticated and a boar was a very dangerous animal. Even now a wild pig or a even a domesticated boar are very dangerous and can kill or maim you pretty bad. Thus I think that had a lot to do with the pig being a forbidden meat. They did not want their people being killed by such a dangerous animal.
