Origin Of Dinosaurs

New study shakes the roots of the dinosaur family tree

More than a century of theory about the evolutionary history of dinosaurs has been turned on its head following the publication of new research. The work suggests that the family groupings need to be rearranged, redefined and renamed and also that dinosaurs may have originated in the northern hemisphere rather than the southern, as current thinking goes. Hm that is very interesting. I think this does set a new fire into the world of the dinosaurs. I will have to study this a little more in depth as more comes out to support or displace it.

Wow, this is a pretty big finding. This means everything we've been teaching for 100+ years is wrong. More than that, how many other things have we misclassified?

I am sure others are going to try to disprove this and yes it makes one wonder how much we have missed or misunderstood from the get go. It is a very interesting read to a scientist like me.

Yup, and to a rocket surgeon like me. I have always been a little leery about the way we pompously group and classify things like we have this all powerful knowledge, only to find out we were wrong years or decades later. This is why I approach everything that is supposedly proven science with a big dollop of skepticism. Heck, we missed this one by so much that we can't even classify a certain dinosaur as a dinosaur.
