Christine and Léa Papin grew up in France in the early 1900s. They were abused by their mother and probably abused by their employer. They reached the tragic act of killing their employer and her daughter. The account of police on the scene:
QUOTE On 2 February 1933, Monsieur Lancelin was supposed to meet his wife and daughter for dinner at the home of a friend. When they did not turn up, he was concerned and went back to their home. He was unable to get into the house because the doors were locked on the inside, but he could see the glow of a candle through the window of the maids' room. He then went to the police and one of them got into the house by climbing over the back wall. Inside, he found the bodies of Madame Lancelin and her daughter. They had both been beaten to the point of being unrecognisable, and one of the daughter's eyes was on the floor nearby. Madame Lancelin's eyes had been gouged out and were found in the folds of the scarf around her neck. The two maids were found in their room upstairs, naked[1] in bed together. They confessed to killing the two women. The weapons used had been a kitchen knife, a hammer and a pewter pot that had stood at the top of the stairs. Ref. Source 6r

If abuse is the reason then you might want to add that being mentally ill could also be part of it. Abuse could send you off so who knows. I think they both were just fed up with how messed up their life was and they took it out on the family.

Being abused your whole life to the point that you do not know anything else it then becomes something much different. Now you are to the point that you feel that violence is a part of life. Violence begets violence and when something happens to make you snap you will do what you have yourself been subject to your whole life. SO yes I do feel that a life of abuse can make a killer.
