Dark Druid says... During the travel, Avan maintains the Pass Without Trace spell whenever it finishes, and attempts to predict the next two days of weather (Take 10 = 22) checking whether it's necessary to use the Endure Elements scrolls when it gets extreme.
At the canyon, Avan is not entirely sure about this plan, but has a backup if everything goes badly. He uses Speak with Animals to instruct Mr. Fluffles to stay 50 feet behind Ildrahil and not to fight when the ambush breaks out. He himself stays in the wagon for cover, with bow ready.

"I suggest we remain on or near the most direct route through this place. There's no telling where their settlement is, but we can bet they'll have eyes on the most likely paths for travelers. Dark Druid says... Out of Character: I presume travelling along the ridges is impossible due to the fractured nature of the terrain?
In Character: Avan continues to scan the sheer cliff faces for any traces of movement. Fluffles keeps a keen eye out and sniffs at the ground and air every so often, trying to catch a scent.

Bastion will suggest checking caves first for activity, then for signs of heavy traffic. A well used cave with no immediate signs of life might not be their settlement, but could easily be an outpost or storage.
