Angry air host becomes cult hero

The JetBlue flight attendant who had a meltdown over a fight with an agitated traveller has already been elevated to folk-hero status by thousands who've shrugged off allegations he endangered others and have praised him for his take-this-job-and-shove-it moment. Ref. Source 5

Apparently Steven Slater has had enough, it is big news in America and there is talk of making the "hero's" incident a movie.

What are your thoughts?

international QUOTE
So Slater stormed to the back of the plane and grabbed the p.a. Mic. He made a profanity-filled announcement which ended with, "So long, suckers!" or words to that effect. Scarfing up two beers from the galley, he opened a door, popped the emergency slide, tossed his carry-on bags down and then followed them to the tarmac. One would presume that if he hands weren't already full, he would have turned and given the airplane and those on it the finger.

According to Wikipedia: On August 9, 2010, as flight 1052 from Pittsburgh International Airport prepared to disembark its passengers at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Steven Slater, a JetBlue flight attendant, claimed to have been in a confrontation with a passenger who refused to remain seated during the safety instruction. Slater claims he was struck on the head by her luggage as it was being removed from the overhead storage bin. Several passengers have disputed his account. He cursed at the passenger over the aircraft's public address system, after which he activated the emergency chute, grabbed two beers, exited via the now-inflated evacuation slide, ran to his parked car, and drove home where he was later arrested.

Now here is a turn around story. Usually everyone is afraid that one of the passengers might turn out to be a terrorist but this time it was the pilot that was shouting out about bombs and AlQaeda and the passengers had to subdue him! Did you guys hear about that?

The JetBlue captain whose midair meltdown led to an emergency landing has been charged with interfering with a flight crew.

According to an affidavit, Clayton Osbon on Tuesday left the cockpit of Flight 191 from New York to Las Vegas after behaving oddly. The co-pilot locked him out of the cockpit, and crew and passengers subdued Osbon in the cabin. The Airbus A320 was diverted to Amarillo, Texas.

Osbon, 49, has been suspended pending an investigation and is receiving medical treatment, the airline said on Wednesday. Ref. CNN

There has been a media frenzy into this case and the wife of the distressed pilot has been pleading for privacy but I doubt the media will care about that and I can't blame them because more investigations need to be put into place concerning the mental health of pilots.

Passengers sue over pilot's meltdown

Ten passengers have filed a lawsuit against a US airline, claiming they feared for their lives when a pilot had to be physically restrained after running through the cabin yelling about Jesus and al-Qaeda during a New York to Las Vegas flight in March. Ref. Source 9
