Nearly 14 million Americans live in neighborhoods of extreme poverty:

A report released earlier this month found that the number of Americans living in neighborhoods of extreme poverty, where more than 40 percent of the population is at or below the federal poverty line, has nearly doubled since 2000, rising from 7.2 million to 13.8 million. Ref. Source 6z
