How Do I Play Role-playing Games?

All about Role-playing Game Links & Stats

First, you may find this very helpful and the most Updated: How To Find The Role-playing Game That Fits Me?

We have FOUR major kinds of Role-playing Games here:

1. Start Now Type: For those who want to start immediately then you need to go to: [+] Member Wars Role-playing Game and select one of the Member managed Role-playing Games there. We also have: Source 6 for solo MMORPG play - you can play at anytime.

2. Integrated role-playing games: This is where the Role-playing Games are part of the Community. Games like Plugged, Cozyville and others considers what you do in the Community and thus it affects game play. To see a list of these check the Role-playing Game Stuff Page.

3. Writer's Paradise: For for those who prefer well thought out story lines where the players are more mature then keep reading below:

4. Share Book role-playing games: This is the EASIEST Role-playing Game to participate in because you do not need to create a character or anything like that. All you do is get involved in the current Share Book Role-playing Game within the Member Wars Board (See here scroll down to see Threads when page opens) and place your vote as to next move everyone should take.

It is important to understand that our Role-playing Games are based on reading. To play you must read, to interact you must read and to learn the rules you must of course READ. It is very frustrating to constantly have interruptions in game play to explain a simple rule that has already been explained several times in various places. Here are some useful tips:

[TIP]: Make use of our Role-playing Game page which tells about each Role-playing Game we have here.

If you do not know what a Role-playing Game is then go here: TextRPG.com

If you want to play an Role-playing Game but not sure which one then go here:
RPG Page and READ the details of what is needed to join that Role-playing Game and how to create your character. In addition to this each main Role-playing Game site has an accompanying Role-playing Game board represented here on this forum.

Here is a simple example:

If You are interested in the Dark Ages

The World of Medieval Board is located:
World of Medieval Role-playing Game Board

Within both links you will have directions, BUT on the Role-playing Game Board (In this case the World of Medieval Board) is where you get DETAILED instructions.

Let Us Get Started…

For the Role-play Gamer who is excited and yet still lost we have implemented several ways to get the information you need.

First! Decide which Role-playing Game you will play. If you want to start now and create a Character then go to the Member Wars Role-playing Game and look for any thread that says "Create Characters". There you will find the Dungeon Master / GM rules about what is expected as far as level and so forth. Most games there are Advance Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 and Pathfinder.

NOTE: JB has retired from running his custom Role-playing Games. Please See Here for other available Role-playing Games administered by other Game Masters. There is NO 30 Core Post requirement for other Role-playing Games you can start right away.

If you want to play in Member Wars Role-playing Game then you do not need 30 CPosts!

Note: You DO NOT need 30 Constructive posts in order to start playing the Member Wars section.

Second! When you are an Role-play Gamer then you are allowed to post in any of the Role-playing Game Boards thus allowing you to create a character and interact with other players if the GM indicates to do so.

Now here are some of the most FAQ:

Q. Where do I find the links to the various Role-playing Game stuff?
A. That depends on what you mean by 'stuff'. If you right click anywhere in the forum you will get a menu with links to the Role-playing Game main sites. There are also the actual boards on the forum where the actual game is played and then there is the Member Wars page which contains all the links at a glance. To get to the Member Wars page simply use the drop down menu or Site Map at the top left of every page on this forum.

Q. What is FP, Gil and credits?
A. Each has a purpose and is earned differently. There is a thread here about earning points, do a search, but…
FP is short for 'Forum Points'
Credits are used to play 'Future Earth'
Luck is used to play 'Love & Life Bytes'

Q. How do I convert my FP, Gil or other forum money?
A. Go to the board shop via the link in the top menu. Only if you can convert something will it be displayed. Usually only FP can be converted.

Q. How do I earn FP?
A. This is covered elsewhere in more detail, but I will go over it somewhat here:

You can earn FP (Forum Points) through:

1. Posting constructive messages
2. Posting long constructive messages
3. Posting constructive messages in specific Boards that pay out more
4. Upgrade your Membership
5. Donate specifically to get FP via the Contribute page
6. Some can be won in the Arcade playing certain games
7. You can risk it in the Forum Shop by buying a chance
8. Look out for monthly contests offering FP
9. Certain Role-playing Games offer Luck Points which can be exchanged for FP
10. Rating Us can give you FP, see the Rate Us Page.

Using the DICE!

At certain times during an RPG game the GM will ask you to roll dice (a link will be provieded to do so). You will then proceed to the page where the dice roll takes place. The GM would have already setup everything so that you do not have to input any numbers, just a reason for the roll.

Q. What reason should I give for making a roll?
A. Input whatever the GM told you before making the roll. For instance the GM might have said to 'roll dice for sunset or midnight' and so your reason would be 'sunset or midnight'.

Q. Is the dice page used for anything else?
A. Yes, for other games too, there will be threads set up for it in either the RPG or Game board section.

Q. Where do I go to get to the Dice page?
A. In the Board that contains the RPG there should be a link in the RPG control panel or you can go to the RPG Stuff page or just go to this link:

Q. Which games are free and which ones do I have to pay for?
A. All are FREE! You can see a full list here:

Q. Are Personal Adventures for free?
A. No, one on one private adventures require a donation.

Q. What is the difference between Personal Adventures and group adventures?

In a Personal Adventure you are in charge, you decide when and how you want to play your character where as in group adventures it is much slower and you have to wait on, go along with and in some cases tolerate how the group plays their character. This can be frustrating for some people. For more details see the Personal Adventures board.

Q. Is paying for a Personal Adventure considered a donation?
A. Yes it is and your name will be added to the contribute page.

How Do I Play Role-playing Games?

I apologize, as you know I am new, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make replies here, but I'll give it a go. I am completely new to text role-playing games, but I have been playing Role-playing Game games my entire life so I am not new to the Role-playing Game world.

I have read through your message here for beginners, but I may have misunderstood some things.

Is there a way I can begin an Role-playing Game as a beginner after I have gained the Role-playing Game title? Not member wars, but Role-playing Game where they'd be a little more forgiving of my [New person] status. And also where should I post questions for help in the future?

Thank you .
