VA Secretary Shinseki apologizes, announces sweeping changes

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki said Friday he has removed the senior leadership of the VA hospital in Phoenix and said no Veterans Health Administration senior executives will receive performance bonuses for 2014. An audit of more than 700 Veterans Affairs facilities released today found that tens of thousands of veterans were waiting to be scheduled for care across the country.

Meanwhile, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced it was scrapping performance bonuses for all senior management in 2014 as part of its response to the review.

The internal VA audit provides a more complete picture of widespread problems at the agency's health care facilities, as reported by CNN over the past seven months, than its preliminary findings last month that led to the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. Ref. CNN

FBI opens criminal investigation into VA:

The FBI has opened a criminal investigation into the Department of Veterans Affairs to help determine whether hospital administrators knowingly lied about wait times for veterans in order to receive performance bonuses, according to FBI Director James Comey. Ref. Source 3

Any way you look at this it is a shame how the US government has treated the recent veterans by not fully funding the VA hospitals. I think this scandal with the VA has opened up some peoples eyes but I still do not see the VA hospitals being fully funded yet. I believe this will continue even though those who have served were promised by our government to care fully for them after their service to our nation. That is the biggest breech of contract the government has done to the thousands of military veterans. I hope the FBI probe opens up more eyes.

Most definitely a disgrace. It shows a total lack of regard for those who served and is a deceptive way to put the dollar before human lives.
