Its
not often we hear a special speaker or/and a special witness.
I thought you might like this: (Please note I cannot remember
all the names, nor the exact words, but the story below is more
or less the same)
Last
Sunday (April, 2001), Elder Richard G. Scott of the Twelve presided
over our stake conference. In his talk he focused on families.
He related a story about a father and his son in Brazil that were
stranded in a desolate area after their car broke down. The father,
being worried about their circumstance, tried to comfort his son.
His son said, "Dad do not worry, I prayed that the Lord would
send a mechanic", but this made the father worry more because
it was late at night and no one usually travels on the road, nor
in the area they were located. The father, not wanting his son
to lose hope in his prayer started to think what he could do to
help the situation, but nothing seemed to come to mind.
Some moments after... a vehicle pulled up and out jumped a mechanic
with tools. The father turned to his son and said, "What did you
learn from this ?" The son braced himself strong and said, "I
learned that I have my own ability to pray and get things done
and I do not have to depend on you".
