Grohg is a large brute. He has dark hair, green eyes, and a dusky complexion. To call him ugly would be an understatement though. His teeth are too big for his mouth, his ears are misshapen, his nose is large and wide, and both are too big for his face. Yet, he favors his human father and is almost never taken for a Half Orc.

His name comes from his mother and father. His Orc mother chose the first two letters of a fierce orc god's name GR, knowing her son would need to be fierce to make it in this world. His father chose the last three letters of his grandfather's name, Imbohg, knowing his son would need the strength and wisdom of his grandfather to help him through life.

Having grown up alone with his mother and father, Grohg doesn't have the manners or understand the social niceties of civilization. His mastery of language is also crude. Thus, his sentences are often short and monosyllabic...a word that would perplex him.

Grohg's story starts with his parents, a story as odd as Grohg himself. His father comes from a clan of Barbarians, a clan that has been so long removed from civilization they were more like the Orcs, Goblins, and other humanoids they competed for territory with. Although competitors, the Barbarians and Orcs had formed grudging respect for each other. One day, Grohg's father and mother were in small groups that ventured into each other. All the others in the groups killed each other and his father and mother nearly did. But something made them stop. Perhaps it was admiration for each other's skills. And affection replaced hatred. They met there quite often afterwards, and affection turned into love.

One day, Grohg's uncle followed Grohg's father to the secret meeting place. What he saw disgusted him. He revealed himself and confronted Grohg's parents. Not wanting to hear an explanation, Grohg's uncle attacked his mother, who was already in the early stages of pregnancy. Grohg's father stepped in and defended his Orc lover, eventually overcoming his brother and knocking him unconscious. They took him back to the Barbarian encampment, laid his unconscious body near the healers yurt, and left, together, for the deepest wilderness, knowing only there could they remain together.

This is where Grohg was raised, alone with his parents, until recently. Upon reaching his maturity he took leave of his parents, striking out to find his place in the world, with the battle axe his father gifted him over his shoulder and the shield his mother made from him on his back.
