I'm Bruconero. My nickname means more or less "Black Caterpillar". No, no, is not because I resemble one of those insects...at least, nobody ever tryed to spray Baygon on me! Is because they have been my sworn enemies for several months, the caterpillars I mean. I'm Italian but I live in a country village just outside one of the cities, in the world-forgotten realm of Indonesia. After the last eruption of the vulcano Merapi, there was a massive infestation of those bugs. Can you people imagine the devastating effect of a woman, my wife, screaming and jumping at the sight of any single insect when you have hundreds of them only in your backyard? That's how I became Bruconero, exterminator of hairy caterpillars.

Thursday, my day off. Obviously, since this is the only day in which I can sleep, I woke up at 6. What to do? Simple: just be stubborn! So, after the ritual visit to the bathroom, I came back to the bed, ready to fight for my deserved thursday morning's extra nap. If you are reading these lines you already know I lost my battle, but was not a total defeat since my stream of thoughts brought me to an interesting analysis: how our interests can change dramatically during our life. Wait, wait! I know it may seem stupid, but I just realized it now. For instance: my passion for cooking. I play with pots and pans as often as I can, I create, I experiment. In the market the sellers already think I'm crazy because yes, I know that's a tomato, but I want to know which quality of tomato is that. What the...! Until 2 years ago I didn't even know how to fry an egg nor I cared! And where are my sci-fi novels? Life is strange.

Rainy season is starting and a veil of laziness is already covering the town and its inhabitants. Most of them will find any reason for not getting out of home. They will stock on groceries and take shelter, like the survivors of a nuclear apocalypse in their underground bunkers. For the next couple of weeks the streets will look like deserts of water: abandoned by humanity and filled by the floods that are a constant feature here during the wet season. Those that have no other choice, will take off their shoes, wear their plastic raincoats and challenge the weather riding their motorbikes (the most common vehicle here). But after two weeks people will get bored of hiding and wait for the rain to stop. Everything will go back to normal. Just more wet.

I will post this here because all the related Threads have been closed and this place is supposed to be my safe haven for anything outrageosly off topic.

I know it will sound like a funeral and that's because is exactly like a funeral for me. For reasons that I don't want to analyze (Even if I have a very clear opinion about what happened), a member of this community decided to leave today. For me she was a special member, something close to a friend.
Always ready to help and encourage the other people, sensible, smart, interesting, alive, strong and yet so fragile. This and much more Kittenpunk has been while she has been here: a friend and an assess for those that had the chance to interact with her in the forums. I will miss you, Kit, and I bet that I will not be the only one. I really wish you to find a place where you can bring on your game. A big hug.
