Office Of The Mayor

Office of the Mayor of Cozyville

Mayors are voted in every six months from the start of this thread. Within this thread Citizens of Cozyville may lay claim to the Mayor for the following:

1. Unemployment / Jobs / Better pay
2. Cost of living
3. Location of buildings or lack there of
4. Civil disputes between citizens

How this is done

Citizens post their 'complaints' and the Mayor can post with possible action. The possibility of that action being taken is based on a roll of 'x' number of votes percentage out of 100. For instance let us say there is a demand for more parks in Cozyville and three other Citizens want the same thing then the following happens within this thread:

1. One citizen demands parks for 'x' reason - be creative and be specific (location, how big etc.)

2. The mayor then decides if she agrees or disagrees

3. If the mayor agrees then there must be at least 2 more votes (each vote is worth 5%) for the same thing. This is done by other citizens posing within the 'Office of the Mayor' thread that they also want parks for 'x' reason.

4. The Mayor then contacts the GM who sets up a 100 percentage dice roll x 3 votes (15%). If the Mayor rolls 15 or under then the park is built. If not then the Mayor has to explain why it was not built - funds, budget, location, etc.

5. The more citizens that vote for the same thing the higher the percentage of them getting it. If a Mayor is not able to comply with Citizen demands then the Mayor or a Citizen can change the reason of the demand to something different and propose it again for vote - the process then begins again.

Yes congratulations on your recent electorial win. I wish you all the best. As one of your newer residents may I suggest a small apartment complex for those of us who can not afford a house yet.

Good citizens of Cozyville, I want to thank you all for your confidence in my abilities as mayor. I welcome all suggestions for ways to improve our fine city.

As for the request for apartment type housing, I will need to give that some thought. While it makes it easier for those with lower incomes to live in Cozyville, it will change the "flavor" of the community as well. I am not sure we want to be like everywhere else. Also, apartment buildings create a larger burden on our schools and other city services because you have a larger number of people living in a relatively small area.

I would like to hear from the citizenry. What do you think? Here are the options as I see them:

Standard Apartment Buildings, relatively affordable rent, no restrictions on who may live in them

Luxury Apartment Buildings, pricey to rent, with many amenities, but allows one to live in Cozyville without worry about yard work and home upkeep

Adult Only Luxury Buildings, pricey to rent, with many amenities, but no added burden on the schools

I agree we do not want a large apartment complex or someplace run down. Sleeping in the park and finding swimming pools to take a bath in late at night is something I want to continue though. As an executive burger flipper I need to look presentable at work though, an apartment would allow me to have a place where I can freshen up before work.

So, citizen Ramer, what option would you propose for consideration to meet your needs while maintaining the integrity of our community?

Dear Mayor Tenaheff:
In response to your opinion poll, I would prefer option number two -- a bit higher-end rental, but suitable for families as well as DINKs (Double Income, No Kids). We don't want to discriminate against children, but we do want to filter out the... uh... riff-raff... for lack of a better word.... that low-income housing often attracts. I think a nicely landscaped and well-kept townhome or condominium complex would be a fine addition to Cozyville.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Rozalynn Farseer

Farseer has some very interesting ideas. I like the idea of nice apartments with no kids allowed. The temporary housing should be just that, temporary I would even recommend limiting the lease to no more than six months. The goal should be to buy a plot of land and place a house one it.
