This 'pressure' to lose weight to make the cheerleading squad has been around for many, many years. I don't know if asking current cheerleaders to cover their midsection is the answer. In all fairness, the ones who are selected have a nice body to show, and I think they should be allowed to sport it. The midsection does not qualify, in my opinion, as one of the vulgar areas of the body, and let's face it; cheerleaders are there to show some skin. Sorry for the guy comments.
