Neo this thread has been started to discuss your online experience while browsing the web in General. You may discuss the following issues in percentages if you wish:
* When conducting a search how likely are you to find what you are looking for
* How many pages you visit that are not found or not working
* How many pages falsely took you to porn or spam
* How many pages gave you the impression that it's content was legit when it was in fact false or fiction
I have found that there are allot of sites that list fact about issues with their own opinions. When I find a site that I know has all fact, I still with it. When it comes to religion and news especially you find opinion listed as fact allot. But I want to see evidence such as sources and other material listed to back up the statements made.
* When conducting a search how likely are you to find what you are looking for
Most of the times (98%) I can find what I am looking for.
* How many pages you visit that are not found or not working
On average, if I click on 10 links, one of them will not work.
* How many pages falsely took you to porn or spam
Surprisingly enough, over the last 2 years or so I have not had this problem as much as I did when I first got into computers some 10 years ago. Maybe it's because of my search items.
* How many pages gave you the impression that it's content was legit when it was in fact false or fiction
Every website tries to portray what they believe to be factual, but like Konquererz mentioned, there is a lot of opinion mixed in with facts. It is not out of the ordinary to read two sites on the same issue and receive differing content. I usually will stick with government sites as absolute fact, and then there are still those who will argue that the government is lying to our faces.
* When conducting a search how likely are you to find what you are looking for
I find what I am looking for about 95% of the time.
* How many pages you visit that are not found or not working
I see about 1 of 100 pages that are lost or damaged. Google searches do a fairly accurate job at eliminating these from being a problem.
* How many pages falsely took you to porn or spam
Very rarely do I have this problem. I may still find 1 in 250 or so. A few years ago it was much worse. There again thanks to Google's technology, explicit material is not included in my searches unless I choose to change my preferences which I rarely do.
* How many pages gave you the impression that it's content was legit when it was in fact false or fiction.
I spend very little time researching anything on a site that I am not already somewhat familiar with the source. However if information is hard to find on a topic I will actually rather often find a site that someone states ficticious information attempting to pass it off as legit. (1 of 20 or so)
