The possible defect in cruise-control mechanisms can cause a vehicle to catch on fire when the engine is off. |
I have a 2003 Ford Explorer, and even though it isn't mentioned as one of the suspect models, I wonder how removed from the problem it really is. I must say I have had more problems than I expected with the Explorer, and was possibly going to be in the market for an Expedition when I was close to paying off the Explorer, but now, after reading this, I'm not that sure. I do agree it is disturbing that a vehicle can ignite when the engine is switched off. I hope Ford can focus on these existing problems instead of worrying about bringing out new models to meet the competition.
