Exit poll: PM Theresa May's Conservatives will come out on top in U.K. Election but miss majority of seats. Exit poll predicted her Conservative Party will win 314 of 650 seats in Parliament to Labour's 266 seats. The party won 331 seats at the last election in 2015. The British prime minister can retain power but apparently fell short of the mandate she had sought when calling for the election. Ref. USAToday.

Yeah, it's ugly over there in England after this latest election. If she's smart she'll get some good stuff done and hold elections again when her party's popularity rises.

Boris Johnson's Conservative Party wins British election, clearing path for Brexit, per exit polls. Britain's Conservative party, led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, secured a comfortable majority in Parliament, a BBC exit poll showed Thursday. The election pitted Johnson's plan to "Get Brexit done" against opposition parties who wanted to delay Britain's departure from the European Union or even cancel it altogether. An overall result is expected in the early hours of Friday morning. If the exit poll proves accurate, it paves the way for Johnson to push through Brexit on Jan. 31. Ref. USAToday.
