Just wondering if after all the drama and accusations over the years do parents still send their children to the BSA?

Boy Scouts of America Reviews Consumer & Travel Family Culture

This is what happens when an organization gets so large that it cannot really enforce the policies that govern it. The next thing that happens is they need volunteers and those volunteers feel they are doing it for free so they can do whatever they please. Some parents are glad to get rid of their kids so they don't really care what is going on so long as they are out of the home. What a ripe field for any perv to make a move.

As a former cub and varsity scout I am saddened by where the BSA has landed itself. The BSA and scouting as a whole used to be something to look up to and join if you wanted to exemplify citizenry. Stacia is quite correct about a lack of checks and this, in my opinion, is one of the cause of the organization's failures.

Boy Scouts offer sex abuse victims a historic $850 million settlement. The offer, which is more than double the group’s initial proposal, comes more than a year after it filed bankruptcy. It’s the largest settlement of sexual abuse claims in U.S. History, said Ken Rothweiler, a lawyer representing a group of survivors. Ref. USAToday.
