Hacked Equifax

Actually, Equifax is widely used internationally also. I know in the USA its one of the big three credit companies. I was unable to find out whether or not the Canada branch can access the US branch or not. But I have to think that if one can be cracked, then they all could be cracked in the same fashion. I also couldn't find out what type of security Equifax would be implementing to stop this from happening in the future. But I suppose that wouldn't be made public for security reasons.

Equifax Hacked History & Civil Business Politics

The credit reporting firm Equifax says a giant cybersecurity breach compromised the personal information of as many as 143 million Americans — almost half the country.

Cyber criminals have accessed sensitive information -- including names, social security numbers, birth dates, addresses and the numbers of some driver's licenses.

Additionally, Equifax said that credit card numbers for about 209,000 US customers were exposed, as was "Personal identifying information" on roughly 182,000 US customers involved in credit report disputes. Residents in the UK and Canada were also impacted.

The breach occurred between mid-May and July, Equifax said. The company said it discovered the hack on July 29. Ref. CNN.

Hacked Equifax

I was hoping to hear that the hackers increased the credit score of all consumers but I guess I did not get that lucky. Having access to over half of all Americans and their personal information is staggering. This is not something to be taken lightly.
