I am aware of Pietro Consagra's work, but I was not much of a fan of modern art. The most interesting thing I learned about him in art classes was is that he has used so many different mediums from bronze and steel to wood and clay in all his sculptures. Even when he did paintings he used many different types of paint including a painting with paint made from seaweed. I'm not sure how that is made, but it makes him a extremely diverse artist. Not many artists are so comfortable in so many different mediums.
