Hidden Codes In Hebrew Scriptures - Page 2

First of all, ancient Hebrew had no vowels.

I don't know what exactly you mean by ancient Hebrew. As far as I know, the Bible today is as it was when it was written. The sentences in the Bible are a bit difficult to understand, but the language itself is about the same. The current Hebrew alphabet is, while not entirely without vowels, uses a lot of vowelization under the letters to indicate the sound. In the Bible you could say that less vowels are used, but it's still readable. And I think they use the original Bible for finding hidden codes.

Smudge, the bible written today is definitely not exactly as it was written in the past. It has been through many, many translations. I doubt seriously that you will ever find anything that Adam actually wrote, for example.

Just in English there are dozens (at least) of translations. For Christians, which has the Old Testament as well as New there are revisions such as:
King James Version
New International Version
Today's New International Version
New Living Translation
New American Standard Bible
English Standard Version
Holman Christian Standard Bible
New Revised Standard Version
Good News Translation (TEV)
Contemporary English Version
New Century Version
New King James Version
New American Bible
New Jerusalem Bible
NET Bible
Revised Standard Version
The Message
God's Word
Revised English Bible

If you were to read the same scripture in each of these Bibles, you would find many differences even to the point where meaning can be affected.

Yes, but the codes are found in the Hebrew version, not in any of the English ones, and while it may not be word to word as originally, I don't think there have been any revisions of the Bible in Hebrew.

I took a college course on a literary approach to the bible. I was taught in that class that written Hebrew has changed. The biggest change being that old Hebrew had no vowels. We as modern translators have put the vowels in to form the words that apparently fit based upon the sentence structure. This clearly leaves a big margin for error.

If the Hebrew written language has changed to that extent this would effect the Hebrew written version used to come up with these codes.

From what I understand, they are not using "modern" Hebrew to find the codes, but what is considered the "original" texts. Frankly, I don't see what difference vowels or no vowels has to do with whether or not the phenomenon is real.

As far as the birth/death dates of the rabbis (66 of them, and not just 12 as I had misremembered in a previous post), the test proves that the ELS's are not due to chance - mathematically speaking, the effects are "significant."

but even if it did tell who the murderer was to be, should he be jailed before committing the murder

No, not in my opinion. However, a person could be watched based on credible information, just as they are now (and often even without any information), and perhaps a horrible event could be prevented. Even as with Rabin, a person could be warned of a danger to themselves.

There are also predictions of earthquakes and other major events, not just crimes, that could help us prepare for a disaster. For instance, the original book shows "predictions" of great earthquakes in 2006 and 2010 in L.A. and Japan.

And while I find all of this fascinating and sometimes useful, no one can really predict the future, and future events can be changed.

I agree that they are using the original texts, but what just occurred to me, and might have been what FBC has been saying, the searched words, the name of the Rabbis, and their birth and death dates could have been written in either form. Here is an article about the liberties they took concerning the names, and here is a more thorough article describing where the rabbi experiment could have had errors. If you look around that site, there are many other interesting articles, including the original rabbi experiment.

Vowels still aren't used in the vast majority of texts, and can be easily figured out by context. It is no different than when you read the word "wind" in english - is it "wind" as in "trying to wind down" or "the wind was strong"?

The vowels were written down, IMO, for people who lost understanding of the language. For example, in some synagogues you have people who do not know how to understand most Hebrew, but they can read along as the prayers are being said because they can read them because the vowels are there.
