W. Cleon Skousen

Lately I have been reading books written by W. Cleon Skousen. They are amazing! He has such a great knowledge of Church Doctrine as well as his specialty in teachings on the Constitution, Founding Fathers and Proper Role of Government.

Skousen may not be a General Authority but Prophets such as McKay and Benson have asked him to write various books such as "The Making of America" And "The Majesty of God's Law."

Skousen, (Ezra Taft Benson is right up there with him),is by far my favorite LDS Author / Speaker.

Has anyone else read his books or heard Skousen's talks on government? What do you think?

I do enjoy Skousen's talks. His "Personal Search for the Meaning of the Atonement" is a classic. I do feel the need to read critically, defining exactly what is declared doctrine and what is speculation, even if educated speculation. However, that goes for every author who writes about doctrine. For me, Skousen fits in the ranks of such speakers as Hugh B. Brown and Truman G. Madsen.

A fellow brother on a Mitt Romney forum sent me a copy of Skousen's The Making Of America. I have neglected to fully read it thus far, but intend to soon. What I have looked at is fascinating reading and I think Skousen has very much succeeded in presenting a readable, thorough study of the Constitution and its precepts.

W. Cleon Skousen is one of my favorite LDS authors, outside of the GA. As stated above, he dose tend to speculate, when interrupting prophecy and coming events. But even at that, I'd guess that he is about 90% accurate.
He is vary relevant to the times we are in right now. "The Naked Communist" and "The Naked Capitalist" are worth reading. [..]
