California Attorney General Bill Lockyer has filed a lawsuit to force top makers of potato chips and french fries to warn consumers about a potential cancer-causing chemical found in the popular snacks.

I don't eat french frys or potato chips, they have always been bad for my blood pressure and weight. But it makes sense to have the warnings on the product. Cigarettes have to list the Cancer warnings right on the box, why not on fry boxes and chip bags? I'm glad that this demand for warnings is moving from cigarettes to foods with known carcinogens. I think it needs to move on to all foods that they must disclose use of any product known to contribute to a specific disease.

Even though I'm not sure that this kind of food can induce cancer in humans, I think the warning is welcomed. Some people will stop buying that stuff ... if not for the cancer danger, at least for the fact that it is unhealthy food.
