I agree that no human being should ever have any form of ownership over another. If somebody were wanting to help a person who might be homeless and they come to a mutual agreement that, if they help around the house and yard and such, then they could have free room and board, no stipulations attached. That is completely different than slavery. Slavery entails having virtually no rights as a human and being told what you can and cannot do. That is, essentially, how I am living at the moment. I help around the house because there are a lot of things my fiance's grandpa physically cannot do, and I am paying very minimal rent. He has no control over me, nor has he tried to envoke any, but I do a lot of the things around here because he cannot do them, and I do it out of appreciation for his taking me in.
But once again, he is not demanding it or requiring it of me, which is where the difference comes in. If a person were to take in another human being under their watch care, a lot of them would help out for the sake of trying to earn their way and pull their own weight.
There are a lot of reasons why people become homeless, but people tend to put the most emphasis on being mentally ill or being a drunk or a druggie. It's easy to forget that a lot of people are homeless because of situations beyond their control. Families are a part of the largest growing portion of the homeless society, and a lot of that has to do with parents losing their jobs and having nothing to fall back on. Women and children make up the largest proportion of homeless, and a majority of those are because of abuse from a spouse or boyfriend.
This is undoubtafully the worst idea on this board, and this thread really deserves(even asks to be ), deleted.
Slavery is not right. People simply should not be owned.
If you really want to help the homeless how about taking them into your house and playing "mommy". But then comes debate about money, finances, criminals, etc, but that's a different topic.

The idea comes from the fact that if someone owes you something, then they owe you everything. Thats a flawed way of thinking that indicates ones idea of superiority over another group of people. It really doesn't matter what the reason. Slavery or indentured servitude will always lead to abuse and the perpetuation of a slave class of people.
I am continually amazed about the attitude of some people towards the homeless... the latest Thread in the Heinous Board will confirm the continual desensitization of society.
