This is an XBox game, a large RPG. I have been playing it for a few days now, and find it very addicting. There are a lot of different choices that you can make throughout the game to develop your character in various ways.
My son bought it for less than $20. He says that it plays similar to Knights of the Old Republic. All I know is that it is a very smooth game, with excellent background graphics.
I have been searching for a large RPG to get into. I currently do not own an Xbox but if they make a pc based version then I will definitely be interested in looking at this as a possibility.
What kind of initial character base do you have to choose from on this game?
Skill base?
There are 3 each male and female characters to start with.
1 male - strong
1 male, 1 female - balanced
1 male, 1 female - fast
1 female - magic
This just indicates their default starting stats. You can customize each, choosing initial martial styles (from 4 available at the start), rearrange stats, etc.
The experience system is pretty much normal for an RPG. Destroy an opponent, solve a puzzle, or resolve a problem, and you get experience. Get a certain amount of experience, and you level up.
When you level up, you gain 3 points to adjust your body, mind, or spirit as you desire, so you can focus on one or two, or just stay balanced through the game.
You also receive a graduated number of skill points that you can use to enhance the variety of martial, weapons, magic, or support abilities.
As you move forward through the game, the opponents and the puzzles become increasingly difficult, and the experience becomes much greater.
There are a lot of fun and interesting sidequests that don't have a lot to do with the main storyline, but they add life and texture to it. For example, you can help a woman who is the leader of a local gang to get married.
There are two major paths to take in the story. You can go for "open palm", which is harmonious and good. Or you can choose to go with "closed fist" - disruptive, evil, and uncomfortable for me to play.
You can also choose to be pretty much neutral. Choosing actions where some are harmonious, and some are disruptive.
However, it is very satisfying to play to an ultimate of one of the two paths. I have finished the game twice as "open palm" and once as "closed fist." I currently have another open palm game, where I am trying hard to get the real romantic ending.
It takes about 20 hours of play to finish a game. Probably about 26 to 28 for the first time through, because you will ask everyone questions, and read through all of them. After the first time through, you will be able to skip a lot of the questions.
Definitely a great game. But I really doubt it will ever make it to computer.
I just bought this game used at the EA Games store (I love them! I can afford to play!) I got this because I was told it was similar to Fable in the RPG world. I love Fable like I shouldn't! :laughs: I was really into that game so much that I didn't want to do my homework sometimes. Who says a graduate degree is less important than an RPG?
