Psychology Of Father - Page 4

Speaking of fatherhood, a good friend of mine has recently had a boy. His relationship with his father has always been difficult as his dad is very harsh. He has always wanted to keep that relationship going - even when his dad flies off the handle over silly perceived slights and so forth. Now his views are changing towards his father, as he finds it is not that hard to be a good father to his son. He finds himself having less sympathy for his own dad, who rarely seemed to make much of an effort to change his own behaviour.

Maybe his father needs some anger management classes. There isn't any reason to just be angry for nothing.

That's sad and too bad for his father. Often times, I think most people (including men) believe women (mothers) are the ones who are supposed to bond with their kids but they fail to realize that the fathers are AS important as the mothers and if they fail to take that responsibility, not only they will pay with indifference from their kids when they grow up but they will also fail to provide the kind of role model these kids need to become good fathers in the future. But like I always say you cannot force a father to be a dad.

Interestingly, in the case of my good friend, his mother was totally absent. I think his loyalty to his father was a recognition that at least his dad was THERE. Oh, and as to anger management for his dad - I think the courts mandated that at some point!

Comments: How do you define a good father really? There is no instruction manual or certificate that says do these things and you're a good father. Sometimes we make comparisons between fathers and say to ourselves that we wish we could have a father like that person. The grass is also greener on the other side.

Psychology Of Father

Fatherhood factors influence how dads spend time with children. A father's resources, relationships, and parenting beliefs affect how he spends time with his children and financially provides for his family, finds a study. Source 3g.

One of the hardest and more rewarding jobs has to be being a father. I can say that a good father is someone who is there to help his children grow and mature and still be there to help them through life. Some times it is a heavy hand that is needed and other times a helping hand. Either way knowing your children look up to you is something you have to keep in mind.

Knowing that I have anger issues does not mean that I am a bad dad. I know that my children know the cause of my anger issues and that they do not always act like me.

I try to be a role model for my kids. For my son I try to show him how he should act, and his responsibilities when he has his own family. For my girls I try to show them how a man is supposed to act so they can find themselves a good man one day. That's what my dad did for me, although I pale in comparison to him.
