WWII shows no battle fatigue
World War II ended more than 60 years ago, but the global conflict remains a constant force in the unceasing procession of combat video games.
New World War II campaigns due in the coming months are Call of Duty 3, Company of Heroes, Medal of Honor Airborne and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. They continue an offensive that began in 1999 with Medal of Honor, a first-person shooting game for Sony PlayStation.

I think because it was the last 'Great' war, it stays in the human psyche. It was truly the last war in which most everyone feels there was a true purpose, that the United States was doing something that was truly beneficial. For that reason, we still feel that 'hero' attitude from that period, destroy the nazi's and save the world attitude. Its a real life event that allows us to be the hero, and that is what games are about. So games that allow people to become real life hero's, so to speak, are always going to sell well. That includes games about World War 2.
It was an interesting period, think of the epic scale of the war itself. That's probably the reason there were so many movies and games made about WWII.
Besides, who doesn't love to hate the Nazis?
