If you catch the fast trains the trip across county is pleasurable and quick as it travels fast and does not stop at each village. I was able to go across country in a few hours that would take most of the day on the slower trains that stop at each village.

Yeah, while I was there the way we traveled on our off time was almost by train. The trains were efficient and ran on time. Once at your destination most things were near enough to walk except in Seoul, where taxis are plentiful.

The only place you needed to worry about in Seoul was the night life. I remember two streets full of clubs and that would make a god bar crawl *smile*.

Yes, agreed. Seoul was a pretty safe town except for one day there was a student demonstration and they kept us on base until it ended. Even then they said the chance of anything happening was slim, but better safe than sorry.

That is why I never stayed in Seoul. I would rather get on a train and go anywhere I could rather than stay in Seoul. I did not ride the blue train much but I did enjoy it. The green trains were cheaper and still got you where you needed to go.
