Baby Temperature
How do you know when a baby is too hot or too cold?
As a general rule, if you are too hot or too cold, so is the baby. Dress the baby appropriate to the weather conditions, and the environment in your home. Touch their skin to see if it's warm or cool, hot or cold, and then adjust their coverings accordingly. Babies react as adults do to differences in temperatures - they sweat, they shiver, etc.
I think babies are more likely to cry from being cold than being too warm, and overheating is just as dangerous, especially when they are asleep, because it is thought to increase risk of SIDS.
From my experience, their hands and feet always feel a little coolor than the rest of their body, and doesn't necessarily mean they are too cold.
As a general rule young babies are just about right wearing however many layers you have on for you to stay comfortable, plus one more light layer over that.
