Idleness

Idleness does not discriminate race, gender or even mental capacity. Whether you are smart or not, idleness can affect anyone.

Shun idleness. It is a rust that attaches itself to the most brilliant metals.

Idleness

As you well know, "idleness" as quoted, refers to a state of mind.

I don't begrudge anyone having a lazy day. Heck, I do it just about every second Sunday, especially if it's raining.

And sometimes, my brain gets to a point where even thinking is a chore. At these times, I'll get horizontal in front of my TV with a particularly mindless movie... usually involving car chases, explosions, and gratuitous sex scenes. This is escapism.

Prolonged idleness in a physical sense can also be called "sloth", and that is one of the seven deadly sins (but we won't go there in this post). Mental idleness is the true sin! A lazy mind dictates action, or more correctly, inaction.

How often have you heard someone say of someone else... "You are wasting your talents"? This is the true idle mind; the mind that ignores natural talent. It is more than just a waste of talent... it is a waste of Life!
