Americans are increasingly concerned that ISIS represents a direct terror threat, fearful that ISIS agents are living in the United States and most support military action against the terrorist group, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released Monday.
Seven in 10 Americans believe that ISIS has the resources to launch an attack against the U.S., but a majority of Americans, 61% to 38%, oppose placing U.S. Soldiers on the ground in Iraq and Syria to combat ISIS. Ref. CNN
'Property of US Govt': Islamic State jihadists armed with US military weapons:
Islamic State fighters appear to be using captured US military issue arms and weapons supplied to moderate rebels in Syria by Saudi Arabia, according to a report published on Monday. Ref.
President Barack Obama told the nation that ISIS poses a threat to the Middle East, including the people of Iraq and Syria. "If left unchecked, these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond that region, including the United States," He said.
To combat the threat, the President said the United States:
-- will carry out a "Systematic campaign of airstrikes" Against ISIS.
-- will send an additional 475 service members to Iraq. "These American forces will not have a combat mission," Obama said.
-- will work with partners to stem the flow of foreign fighters into and out of the Middle East. Ref. CNN
What worries me about ISIS is their ability to gain so many recruits so fast. They operate like a flash mob almost and its this kind of surprise tactics that makes unprepared areas fall so easy.
