The government is announcing that they need to tighten their belt again because they are not getting the same revenue as they used to. What's the matter, I thought Manning says this country is immune? rolleyes.gif

Also, TT&TEC announced that the country went from consuming 240MW to only 20MW. Well what do you expect, you raise the cost of electricity and tell people to reserve consumption.

Trinidad & Tobago Inflation At 10% Caribbean / Tobago & Trinidad

The Central Bank is saying that the digression of the economy is happening so fast that in 2009 they expect 1% growth or no growth at all. Despite that inflation of food prices has come down from 30% to 25% ONLY! This means that international food prices which have come down tremendously are NOT passed on to the consumer - again proving what I have said many times in this Thread - Trini'comics is not the same as world economics. Businessmen, especially in the food arena are not fair in passing on reduced costs of food. Also, the stupid consumers continue to buy with NO prudence! I have seen little to no reduction on food prices and in some cases some things are still going up!

I think one of the big problems as it was mentioned in this thread is that consumers continue spending in the same way as before the recession, no much difference really and if those who are in charge of making the big changes see that the average Joe continue spending without remorse, then things must be going good for them after all. That's the kind of reasoning.
