Title: Funding the local life styles

Comments: When the Prime Minister says 'We have had to borrow to fund our lifestyle, whose lifestyle he is referring to?. Surely he could not mean the lifestyle of our poorer sector of this nation as these poor souls have been deprived of many of the essential needs for decades. There has been practically no real effort put into enhancing the living conditions of such folks. Many are still living in shacks without the easy access to good drinking water, electricity medical, welfare, education, proper roads to their homes and other necessary amenities. It really does not matter how much money there is in the Treasury, politicians here have turned a blind eye to the needs of the underclass here. This is reflected by the rate in which poverty is becoming widespread throughout the nation. This is not something that has happened overnight. It is simply that our politicians despite all our past wealth has allowed growing poverty of the lower class and are really only interested in supporting the lifestyles of the already rich and well off. So it is therefore reasonable to assume that when the Prime Minister mentions funds for our lifestyle he is only referring to the upper and middle classes of this nation. The poorer sector of our communities are not and have not been considered as having any form of worthwhile lifestyle to support with Treasury funds. The rise in poverty within many districts is reflected by the national ' hot spots' crime as with the rising cost of living and galloping unemployment there is now no other way left for the poor of this nation to to make two end meet.

Title: The Budget

Comments: With the state of the local economy and the fact that we are in a recession, the chancellor had no alternative but to present a harsh but somewhat tarnished and controversial budget. There are however some outstanding aspects of the budget which remain troublesome. The small amount allocated to Agriculture is one. In my opinion, more financing of this sector should have been made bearing in mind the call and urgent need for diversification Another is the vague emphasis and speculation offer on the prospects of discovering more gas and oil. It seems as though the chancellor was briefed by hopeful clairvoyants of both and gas the oil industries who are not really sure of what to expect from their research. The final aspect which would no doubt lead to further hardship and poverty for many citizens and was in my opinion too harsh.was the heavy increase of certain taxes on everyday commodities used by citizens. The effects of this budget will hit those at the lower income group and those currently unemployed the hardest. The overall situation is likely to become worse for the ordinary citizens and the nation because the present measures will only delay the politicians from going cap in hand to the IMF for a short period of time.

Title: A nation struggling to survive

Comments: Despite all the government bleating about new oil and gas discoveries, according to Mr. Colin Imbert's statement 'Three weeks ago, Government had enough money to run this country for just five minutes'.Yet the public was not aware of this so how can we now believe that this or any future government will survive in the future, when things are going to get worse for our ordinary citizens, which they must do because of the foreseeable hardship now associated the budget proposals. It also goes to show that we can no longer rely on the income from our oil and gas resources to run the country which is obviously dwindling at an alarming rate. The already rich and the corrupt professionals are laughing all the way to the bank as they can still live the life of Riley and enjoy the sunshine by living off their profits from their investments stashed away in foreign banks businesses. As I have often said most politicians and their rich associates are encouraging ordinary citizens to live in a make belief world and are failing to face the wider reality of it all, and the effects it has on those citizens trying to make two ends meet.

Title: LOST OF INVESTMENTS

Comments: It would now appear that the investors are hot-footing it from this nation which is due mainly because of the dwindling of out gas and oil resources and the profit they produce .Well it was expected, not only because of the fall in the income from our resources but because we have now become a haven for criminals and even terrorists, where those involved in corruption are protected and admired as heroes by the police, the justice system, some politicians and many of our citizens. The writing was on the wall and still is, and the perpetual withdrawal of business interest here will continue unless something meaningful is done about our crime especially the murder rate and corruption. The nation's image abroad has been tarnished by the deliberate criminal actions by some of our well known and notorious citizens.

Title: Cap in hand to the IMF

Comments: Despite what those in the corridors of power may say there are signs that we a are again heading into the jaws of the IMF. With a struggling economy, rising unemployment and growing poverty and discontentment among our ordinary citizens there is now no alternative left since those at the higher level of our society are not satisfied or willing with lowering the level of their lifestyle in order to bring some equality to the running of the nation. With the consistency of low prices of oil and gas and the reported depletion of these t resources here, plus the fact that no one here really seems interested in diversification, the politicians are left with no choice but to swallow their pride and go cap in hand to the IMF in the very near future, whatever the cost.
