The National Coalition has stemmed the bleeding and re-established itself as the second largest party in Finland after being overtaken briefly by the Social Democratic Party.The recent up-tick in support for the Social Democrats, in turn, has slowed, while support for the Finns Party has stagnated.

Social workers considered recommending that the eight-year-old girl who was killed by her father and stepmother in Helsinki in May 2012 be taken immediately into custody and that a criminal complaint be filed with the police only a few days before her death.A school counsellor had alarmed the officials by informing them that the girl was constantly late for school, that her textbooks had been torn and that she had bruising on her stomach.

Spring snow melt represents a fateful point in time for the nickel mine of Talvivaara in Sotkamo.There is simply too much water at the mine: over nine million cubic metres, enough to fill 90 Parliament Houses. The water has already all but filled the auxiliary storage areas, and more is to come due to the abundance of packing snow in Sotkamo.
