Argentina Politics - Page 4

Just had a Thread Posted by News on him: Mauricio Macri. One thing else they may want to change is that lag between election results and the swearing in. That should be a day or two, nothing more than that. I am interested in seeing how Argentina bounces from having easy access to US dollars when the oil price is at its lowest in a decade but I will save that for the Argentina Business - Argentine Economy Thread.

Whatever happens, the current situation of Argentina (Inflation 30%) will not be solved easily, it can only get worse at least at the beginning and people will feel it.

So I am hoping they do not blame the new President for the horrific consequences that the Kircheners left in 12 years of government.

The peso will be devalued further if the US dollar is allowed to float. This could mean that Argentina would end up like Venezuela is now with currency so devalued foreign banks do not even take it.

While having open US exchance will encourage foreign companies to invest it will really only benefit Argentina if that investment goes to the people directly, for instance hiring locals to do the work and profits are reinvested in Argentina rather than having cash taken to external banks.

There will have to be a massive reduction in government spending and that is not going to make people happy.

Our (Argentina) Minister of Economy Alfonso Pratt-Gay speaking English, check 4:11 - he sounds just like a native English speaker! Good to see our President also speaking English.

Argentina Politics

The US dollar is sewn into Argentina's economy and its culture. Argentina's official currency is the peso but it's the greenback that defines the country's shifting economic landscape. Source 3f.
