Imagine sitting down at the board room table in a high back leather chair, opening up your rolling leather computer case, and pulling out your (leather notebook computer?) to give a presentation to your colleagues. Is this going a bit far for the luxury of leather or will it turn into a whole new design concept for notebook marketing worldwide?

Yeah, this is probably taking things a bit too far. Laptops shouldn't be a symbol of extravagance or importance. It is a technological tool really. I find it funny those people who buy fancy organizers and cell-phone PDA's and don't even know how to use 90% of the functions. If someone is vain enough to buy a leather covered laptop, then more power to them. I won't be impressed by it.
This is rather silly. I have always thought that people who worry about what their PC looks like are missing the entire point. I would much more prefer a laptop that performs well and is just plain looking than all the extra "luxury" items on these PCs. But as long as their are rich people willing to spend their money, extravagance like this will thrive.
