Hitler was afraid of revealing anything about his relatives because he thought it would hurt his reputation. On the History channel this is what I learned. January 1944 - Hitler was given a file about his relatives saying that half of his family was insane and had a history of mental illness. Under Nazi Germany mentally I'll patients were not worth of life and so Hitler even put some of his relatives to death. He then ordered all his personal records burnt. He forced his sister (Paula), who was interested in marrying herself to a mass murder, to live under a different name. When Hitler heard that Paula wanted to marry this mass murder he was furious and sent the man to the front where he was captured by the Red Army and lived the rest of his life in prison. After the war his sister wrote about Adolph in various fashions. She seemed to have a admiration and respect for Adolph and was sorrowed by his death.
