Game Master says...

Theaton feels his strength fading after the fight, but he braces himself and the poison ceases working against him.

He took a total of 6 strength damage during the whole fight, so he has 7 strength remaining, modifier of -2. He knows how this works from experience in the forest and is aware that it will pass after a week of activity, or 3 days of complete rest.

Shivas channels her energy returning much needed life to this field of dead. Theaton sees his wounds close, but the poison remains fully potent, and you both think you see the mandibles of the spider twitch. Shivas walks over and performs a merciful coup de grace (Which tasks a full round and is considered an automatic critical hit).

The web strands glisten in the sun, converging at the dark burrow in the center.

Theaton will thank Shivas for her healing and tell her that he will need to rest some to gain some of his strength back. He will suggest searching the area of bones well for any treasure that can be found. He will crawl around to save his strength and try to help his body get the poison out of his system. He will look for any signs of metal, gems or coins as he works his way towards the center of the trap.

"I don't think it would be a good idea to make your way to the trap, there could be more of them and you don't have the strength to fight another. Be on your guard." Shivas says to Theaton as she looks around cautiously. She stays to the out side of the ring keeping a careful eye on Theaton as he searches the remains of the spider's victims.

Out of Character:: Perception check: 9+5=14, 9+5=14, 6+5=11

"Usually there is only one spider per trap as they are solidary creatures. I feel that if there was another it would have come out already but I will be cautious."

Theatons will keep searching the area for anything that can prove to be useful to them. Slowly making his way in a circular path edging ever closer to the center. HE will also keep a watch out for any other creature that may be close including a possible second spider.

Out of Character:: Perception rolls with the +4 added: 13, 19, 7, 20

Theaton notices very little apart from the bones. One of the human bones though rests with a pile of corroded green copper pieces and blackened silver pieces, 20 and 14 in total. Theaton makes his way to the edge of the hole while Shivas keeps her distance. Over the hole there is a mass of twigs and dirt glued together with web, slightly ajar, and in gap you see darkness. No movement is noticed.

Shivas continues her vigilant watch over Theaton as he nears the trap.

Perception rolls: 7+5=12, 20+5=25, 20+5=25 (Couldn't do that again. Two natural 20's)

"Shivas you have a torch handy? I think it is safe as I see no movement right now but a light will help a lot to see what is down in this hole."

Game Master says...

Theaton opens the trapdoor, illuminating it. It's only 25 feet deep but the smell of rot is strong. Among the many strands of web, he sees a cocoon the size of a body and a longbow at the very bottom. Climbing down is easy with the webs as support. He cuts open the cocoon revealing an intact but slightly melted and withering corpse clad in leather armour. It wears a familiar silver pendant shaped like a stag skull and has a short sword and 10 gold pieces.

Heaving it out of the hole, Shivas approaches. She notices a scrap of parchment tucked into the body's boot. On it is drawn a dead tree shaped like a claw, atop a barren hill. At the base of the tree is an "X".
