My wife would agree with you completely FairMainden. I think though if you are in need of furniture as you have none and this is the only draw back, you may just need to bomb the place.

Take the cushions off and open the up along with any other removable part prop them on the wall and set of a few pesticide cans. Bomb the place once or twice prior moving in and all should be good. I do realize that this still maybe not enough for some to erase the mental picture of strange bugs running about.
