Trinidad Murder Rate: One Murder Every 17 Hs And 30 Minutes

Trinidad and Tobago has reached ridiculous murder statistics and nothing serious is being done to stop this madness!

international QUOTE
With more than 200 murders already recorded inside the first half of the year, the murder toll seems well set to cross 400 by the end of 2008.

The murder toll now stands at 214-92 more than the same period last year.

The murder rate stands at one murder every 17 hours and 30 minutes.

If this surge continues, T&T can expect to record 494 murders at the end of the year.

Following the current trend, by the end of June there will likely be somewhere close to 249 murders recorded.

And four days into the new month, there have already been six murders.

Also, May 2008 has been the bloodiest month for the year, almost doubling last year's tally for the same period. Fifty-six murders were recorded last month, surpassing last year's tally of 30. In May 2006, there were 35 murders....

I would like to see the rate of murders per capita right now down there. I bet you will be close to if not the highest. I would not want to live in the murder capital of the world. But that is just me.

Title: Trinidad Murder rate 1970s and 1980s

Comments: Hi Everyone,

Does anybody have statistics of Trinidad and Tobago's murder rates by year in the 1970s and 1980s. I was interested in comparison the what the vast difference it was like back then compared to the 1990s and 2000s which we can find stats on the internet for? I am very curious to see the evolution of the problem we all hope TT can to fix in the near future.
