Feds find 'blatant disregard' for veterans at VA nursing home, release new facility ratings. When investigators visited the VA nursing home in Brockton, Massachusetts, to look for potential signs of patient neglect, they didn’t have to look far: They found a nurse and a nurse’s aide fast asleep during their shifts. One dozed in a darkened room, the other was wrapped in a blanket in the locked cafeteria, according to a report by the investigators who said they had “significant concern about the blatant disregard for veteran safety.” The Brockton nursing home is one of 45 to receive the lowest one-star rating in new VA quality rankings, released after a joint investigation by USA TODAY and The Boston Globe.
