Comments: I say re-instate the Death penalty now. Then murderers such as described here would certainly be hanged. The problem here is that we have too many politicians playing God and at the same time conforming to the rules of the human rights organisation. Then we have other politicians here who think that to join with those in the corridors of power in a combined effort to bring back hanging will be seen as a sign of political weakness on their behalf and make the other side seem victorious. All in all our politicians are quite prepared to see our innocent citizens slaughtered day after day without really doing an thing meaningful or constructive ,like asking for outside assistance, increasing the manpower of the police. They know that the death penalty is the key to stemming the constant rapid flow of so many killings, yet they dither offering only lip service and most likely is presently contemplating the introduction of yet another useless crime plan.

What would the death penalty matter in a case like this where the person wanted to die (Suicide) and probably still does want to die - the death penalty means nothing?

Also bear in mind that it is not uncommon for an innocent person to be sentenced to death. Police and prosecutors are under a lot of pressure to convict and are not infallible themselves. People have been executed and then pardoned years later when other evidence is discoved.

The death penalty also deters only a small group of murderers, the ones who take calculated risks- that's not your average murder case.

I'm not saying the death penalty should never be considered, just that it should be the result of some thorough research.

Comments: These local killers are enjoying slaughtering innocent citizens. The impression is that most of these murderers treat it as a hobby taking pot shots randomly at people they don't even know. If its one thing they fear most is being harmed of killed themselves .I say reinstate the death penalty now, hang a few convicted killers and we will be back to some form of normality where local murders are concerned in no time. Just take a look at the annual rate of murders since we stop hanging murderers here and you will see the answer as to why we should bring back hanging staring you in the face. Never mind what the Civil Rights Movement or the Privy Council says .We the people of this nation are the bearers of the burden of having to live in fear of our lives. The government must do everything in its power to halt the spiral of the slaughter of our citizens, and that includes reinstating the death penalty as a priority.
