One God & Different Religions?

Do Jews, Christians and Muslims Believe in the Same God?

Most Americans say they believe in God. Around the world, religious Jews, Christians and Muslims say they believe in God, as do many people who do not identify with any formal religion. But this statement is actually meaningless. To cite one example, the God in whose name some Muslim extremists cut innocent peoples’ throats and violate women cannot be the same God as the God of those who believe God condemns such actions. Who then argues that all those who say they believe in God believe in the same God? Two groups make this argument. The first consists of people who have an… Ref. Source 9p.

Religions and God One

There is much that is good and true in non-Christian religions. For example,Confucious said,

international QUOTE
"Do not do to others what you would have them do to you"

Sometimes called the negative Golden Rule. This is not contradictory to the Golden Rule of Jesus:
international QUOTE
"Do to others what you would have them do to you,for this sums up the law and the Prophets" (Matthew 7:12).

Also, Buddhism and most other religions are in harmony with Christianity in teaching that we should respect our parents and that murder is wrong.

Of the major world religions, Christianity and Judaism are likely the most similar. Christianity and Judaism both believe in one God who is almighty, omniscient, omnipresent, eternal, and infinite. Both religions believe in a God who is holy, righteous, and just, while at the same time loving, forgiving, and merciful. Christianity and Judaism share the Hebrew Scriptures (The Old Testament) as the authoritative Word of God, although Christianity includes the New Testament as well.

While some similarities exist between Islam and Christianity (They are both monotheistic religions, for example), their differences are clear-cut, significant, and irreconcilable. Similar to Islam, Christianity teaches that God is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of all that is—but that is about where the similarity ends. Christians believe in one God who exists in three eternal, co-equal Persons (Father, Son, and Spirit) who share the same indivisible essence. According to Christianity, God loves because His very nature is love (1 John 4:8)—not just because He happens to choose to love. Islam holds that the Torah (The first five books of the Old Testament), the Psalms, and the Gospels were given by God—with this caveat: Jews and Christians have corrupted God’s Word and therefore Bibles cannot be fully trusted.

For Christian's the founder is Jesus Christ, for Muslims their founder is Mohammad, and for Judaism their founder is Abraham. Regarding Jesus Christ, Christians regard him as divine, Muslims a prophet sent by Allah, and for Judaism, Jesus Christ was an ordinary Jew.
